In today’s digital age, access to technology is no longer a luxury but a necessity. Yet, many communities, particularly Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) communities, face significant barriers to digital inclusion. Black Brilliance Research (BBR) is committed to bridging this digital divide and empowering individuals to thrive in the digital world. One of their key initiatives, the Digital Stewards Program, is a testament to this commitment.

What is the Digital Stewards Program?

The Digital Stewards Program is a unique initiative that trains community members to become digital leaders. Participants receive comprehensive training in various digital skills, including:

    • Digital literacy: Understanding how to navigate the internet safely and effectively.
    • Computer skills: Proficiency in using basic computer software and applications.
    • Social media: Leveraging social media platforms for personal and professional purposes.
    • Data privacy and security: Protecting personal information and safeguarding digital assets.
    • Digital storytelling: Creating engaging digital content to share stories and ideas.

Why is the Digital Stewards Program Important?

The Digital Stewards Program is crucial for several reasons:

    • Economic empowerment: By acquiring digital skills, participants can access new job opportunities and improve their earning potential.
    • Community engagement: Digital tools can help individuals connect with others, build networks, and participate in community initiatives.
    • Civic participation: Digital literacy empowers individuals to engage in civic processes, such as voting, volunteering, and advocating for social change.
    • Digital equity: By training community members as digital stewards, BBR is working to ensure that everyone has equal access to the benefits of the digital age.
